It was a night of rock ‘n’ roll magic on September 23 as Greta Van Fleet brought their Starcatcher World Tour to the heart of Cleveland at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The Michigan-born rock sensation, known for their classic rock-inspired sound, took the stage by storm, delivering a performance that left the crowd in awe. The atmosphere was electric from the moment the lights dimmed and the curtain dropped and the opening chords of “The Falling Sky” reverberated through the arena. The unmistakable voice of lead singer Josh Kiszka soared through the venue, and it was immediately clear that the band was in top form. His vocals carried the essence of rock legends from decades past, and he effortlessly captivated the audience with his raw and powerful voice.
Guitarist Jake Kiszka, showcased his virtuosity throughout the night. His mesmerizing guitar solos left the audience in a state of sheer amazement. The connection between Jake and his guitar was palpable, and his ability to channel the spirit of classic rock gods was a sight to behold. Sam Kiszka on bass and Danny Wagner on drums provided the band with a rock-solid foundation. Their rhythm section was tight and unyielding, propelling the band forward with relentless energy. Sam’s groovy basslines added depth to the music, while Danny’s thunderous drumming kept the audience moving all night.
The setlist was a balanced mix of tracks from their latest album, “The Battle at Garden’s Gate,” and fan favorites from their debut record, “Anthem of the Peaceful Army.” Songs like “Heat Above” showcased the band’s evolution as musicians, while classics like “Black Smoke Rising” ignited the crowd with nostalgia and fervor. Greta Van Fleet’s stage presence was as captivating as their music. The lighting design, featuring bursts of colors and dynamic visuals, complemented the band’s performance beautifully. The interplay between the musicians, their connection with the audience, and their genuine enthusiasm for the music created an intimate and immersive experience.
Josh Kiszka’s interaction with the audience was heartfelt and genuine. He expressed his gratitude for the fans’ unwavering support and appreciation for live music. As the concert was just starting to reach excitement, the band performed an extended version of “Lover, Leaver (Taker, Believer),” with Jake Kiszka delivering an awe-inspiring guitar solo that seemed to stretch into eternity.
